Let's Talk About Talk
*(AKA Words Matter, Don't Be a D!ck)*
Listen up, because this is important: We're on a mission to change how the world talks about suicide, and it starts with ditching some seriously outdated language.
The Word We're Breaking Up With: "Committed"
-
"Committed suicide" needs to get in the bin. Like, yesterday.
-
Why? Because people "commit" crimes. Our loved ones weren't criminals – they were battling their own minds.
-
They died by suicide. They died from suicide. They ended their life. Pick one.
-
If you use "committed" around here, we'll kindly correct you. Consider this your heads-up.

Why Are We Such Language Warriors?
(Spoiler: Because This Sh!t Matters)
-
Words shape how society views suicide loss
-
Language affects how survivors heal
-
The right words can help break stigma
-
The wrong words can keep shame alive
-
And we're done with shame. So. Done.
The Bottom Line
We're not the word police (okay, maybe we are a little), but we're fighting for a world where talking about suicide doesn't come with extra side orders of judgment and stigma.
If you mess up, no worries. We're all learning. But now you know, and knowing is half the battle. The other half is calling out outdated language like it's your job.

Because even in the darkness of your mourning, your words matter.
